Job Title: Residential Care Worker
Location: Bedfordshire / North Hertfordshire
Salary: £31,360 – £33,690 per annum + £60 per sleep-in
Working Hours: Full Time – 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 2 days on / 4 days off
Number of Sleeps Required: As per rota
Pay Per Sleep: £60 per night
Service: Children’s Home – EBD Residential Home
Service Users: YPs aged 11–17, EBD
Qualifications Required: NVQ Level 4 (or willingness to work towards within 6 months)
Experience in Years Required: Minimum 1 year residential experience preferred

• Ratio of staff to children: High staff focus, small teams for personalised care

Energetic and accountable Residential Care Workers who:
• Take accountability and work proactively to help children achieve their full potential
• Promote the welfare of young people in a safe and homely environment
• Implement working policies, risk assessments, behaviour plans, and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
• Support children with daily living tasks, educational goals, and emotional needs
• Demonstrate professional, calm, and nurturing behaviour
• Engage with children, listen to them, and record significant behavioural features
Knowledge & Skills Required:
• Understanding of attachment theory, child development, and trauma impact
• Knowledge of psychological theories, basic human needs (e.g., Maslow)
• Understanding safeguarding in a residential setting including CSE, sexual abuse, and exploitation
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to be a positive role model and maintain professional boundaries
