Job Type: Full-time, with flexibility, permanent Office Hours: Monday to Friday Reporting to : Director About Us At PBT we bring together a combined 30 years of accounting experience, knowledge, skills and expertise to provide accountancy, bookkeeping & payroll services for all business structures. Our aim is to deliver all the benefits of a full-time in-house accounts department - with none of the overheads. Designed for businesses that don’t have enough bookkeeping work to be done to justify employing an in-house bookkeeper. This is where PBT come in, It’s just like having your own accounts office next door. Role Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day bookkeeping needs of our clients, ensuring all financial records are maintained accurately and in compliance with UK accounting standards. Key Responsibilities • Requesting records and information from clients • Data entry, including the processing invoices, bills, expenses and receipts • Bank reconciliations • Review and maintain aged debtors and creditors • Reconciliation of control accounts • Preparing VAT returns and reconciliations • Regular communications with clients • Other ad-hoc finance tasks as required Required Skills & Experience • Proven bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice or similar financial environment • Solid understanding of UK VAT rules and HMRC compliance • Proficient in accounting software (preferably Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage) • Strong Microsoft Excel skills • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy • Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines • Good communication skills and a client-focused approach • Friendly, professional and able to communicate clearly with ‘non-finance’ people Desirable Qualifications • AAT level 3 or 4 qualified or part-qualified (or equivalent experience) • Experience with payroll processing and CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) returns What We Offer • Support for professional development and training • Friendly, supportive team environment • Opportunities for career progression within the practice If you'd like to apply directly, please send your CV and cover letters to natalie@pbtaccountancy.co.uk Seniority level Seniority level Entry level Employment type Employment type Other Job function Job function Accounting/Auditing and Finance Industries Accounting Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at PBT Accountancy by 2x Sign in to set job alerts for “Bookkeeper” roles.
